World Nomads Travel Film Scholarship (2013)
During my second around the world trip, I decided to take part in the 2013 World Nomads Travel Film Scholarship.
As I wanted to win, I knew that I needed a good story indeed. Thus, I decided to go to Tana Toraja (Sulawesi, Indonesia) to find out more about the amazing Torajan death rituals.
The script of this 3 minutes video was written while sailing across Maluku´s Sea onboard a sailing catamaran, on my way from Toli Toli to Manado, from where I traveled by land and boat all the way down to the Toggean Islands first and finally to Tana Toraja.
A few months later, while traveling around USA, I got a phone call from Australia: my entry was the winner!
“What can I say? Andrés had me in the palm of his hand right from the first moment. Not only a great stylist – his delivery & energy are disarming and his solo-operating style gives an incredible sense of excitement and immediacy to the piece” – World Nomad´s Judges´ comments.
